Roland D-50 turning-on problem

Hi everyone, and i just bought a (used) Roland D-50. I was so excited, but when pressed the power on button, just the upper Partial Balance light appeared. The display didn't turned on. I tried to find some kind of solution on the manual, but it didn't help at all. Do any d-50 user knows if i'm being stupid/silly and that's actually a very easy stuff to be resolved or i need to call some guy to repair and stuff... I'm afraid because Roland in Brazil (my country) it's not very much of a support-based companion (by my experience with they repairing boss pedals).
I'll be very grateful if any one could please help me with this...

For a start IIRC only one light is correct, you select the other and then it lights and assigns the control of it to the joystick. So that sounds about right.
As for the display, it could be dead. Does the synth make sounds and appear to function correctly otherwise? (can you change patches, do all keys play etc) if so you just have a dead LCD, look on Ebay for a replacement etc.

Does it need an internal battery replacement?

it's not making sound at all... it's just stays on that upper Partial Balance light... I already tried that DATA TRANSFER + 0 thing, but nothing happens
Also, the guy who sold me the synth, sent me a video of him playing it, like, last week. I'm afraid that it had some problem while shipping...
