It is arriving here in about 2 weeks... But truth to be told, I dunno about a few things. Mainly why the code is Assembler, it is not easily hackable.
BTW, I also got a Shruthi-1 kit incoming, and that is h**l of a lot more synthesizer, for not much more money.

You've said it all in my opinion...Mush wrote:BTW, I also got a Shruthi-1 kit incoming, and that is h**l of a lot more synthesizer, for not much more money.
It definitely seems a nice synth, but for people in Europe, who'll likely have to pay extra taxes for it, not sure if it's worth comparing with the Shruthi-1, which seems to be a much more powerful machine.
Still, I might think about giving it a try, depending on what I end up getting for Christmas.
It would just be great if some more demos were available...

get the shruthi-1. here's mine: http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2010/11/shruti-1.html
it's an awesome synth. lot of wavetables, the filter is smooth ( i made the SMR4), modulation matrix, etc
and cheap too.

Re: $129 8-bit digital synth module
Ok, that looks very cool, but 3 things:
-no patch storage? If it's digital, surely saving a few sounds shouldn't be hard?
-I know the WTPA thing kind of does this, but why has no one created a similar synth + sampler? Like I would love this to be a Mirage in a box, with simple akai s-612-like sample start/stop knobs/siders.
On a positive note, I like the idea of being able to change/add the synthesis type, but as is, it seems pretty basic (1 env?), especially as if it's monophonic. I guess the main points are the knobby/switchy interface, and the price!
On a side note, when is the next round of Shrutis going to be available? Still annoyed I didn't buy when they were actually (briefly) available.

According to Olivier, he intends to make Shruthis available every month, from what he told me.Sir Ruff wrote:On a side note, when is the next round of Shrutis going to be available? Still annoyed I didn't buy when they were actually (briefly) available.
I have the original one (still unassembled) and would definitely like to get my hands on one of the new ones, especially since the filter is different.

The no solder build kit is a big plus for me
the interface looks nice too
Ease of use factor looks high
I think I may get me one

Ok, cool. I got the email when they were first released, but haven't heard anything since, and they are currently still sold out.paugui wrote:According to Olivier, he intends to make Shruthis available every month, from what he told me.Sir Ruff wrote:On a side note, when is the next round of Shrutis going to be available? I think I'm gonna get me one and build it into a cigar box.paugui wrote:According to Olivier, he intends to make Shruthis available every month, from what he told me.Sir Ruff wrote:On a side note, when is the next round of Shrutis going to be available? Shruthi with ssm2044 sounds fantastic.
Re: $129 8-bit digital synth module
When I look at the order page, it looks like they only offer the stock filter board with the kit. Is it something you have to request or do they list them again when another batch is available as an optional add-on (purchased separately from the kit)?tekkentool wrote:Shruthi with ssm2044 sounds fantastic.
Edit: Herp derp. Found it. Nevermind. Ordering it now
