Tell us about your first crush...

For me it was when I was 5 or 6 years old. I had a wakeman with Gary Numan's Replicas and The Pleasure Principle and I used to listen to them all day long while my grandmother garded me. Kind of a stange kid don't you think?

4-5 years ago when I realized that I could use synths in my music because I was using so many acoustic instrument that the synths didn't become to much in the mix.

Started as a prog-rock fan in the 70's, Yes, ELP, etc. But became a bass player, seriously. A few years ago, bought a Moog LP, and that was the start of what's become a full-time synth-player gig with a proggy band now. Bought another Little Phatty, a DSI MoPho kb, and a couple of Korg/Roland synths for good measure.

For me it was Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein". That was just the coolest damn thing. Still is.

For me it started with Duran Duran and Nick Rhodes in the mid 80's. I started to learn about synths and went to the music shop to play on their synths. Been in love ever since.

I wanted to make cool dr. who sound effects. So i downloaded some VST's in grade 7.

Hard to pinpoint precisely, but it's somewhere between the movie Close Encounters and the preponderance of Obies, Rolands, MOOGs, and Prophet 5s in the music I loved at the time. (too many to list, but you know the usual suspects: Nick Rhodes, DEVO, RUSH, etc… late 70s to early 80s). And although it's not cool nowadays to admit it, you just know that Eddie Van Halen must have had a huge influence on a large group of synth mavens who grew up in the early 80s. Between the mega sweeps in 1984 and Rush's Tom Sawyer, tons of us were dying to know how to make those kinds of sounds.
