Analog Synthesizer Tutorial

Post by Mr.Andy6 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:30 pm

Hi guys,
I got my first analog synth (prophet 08) two days ago and now I was searching for a good site where I can learn the basics of analog synthesis (oscillators, filters, LFOs etc) to understand the synth better and not to be forced to twiddle random knobs and hope that happens what I want. The only thing I could find on google are *VIRTUAL* analog synthesis tutorials. I don't know if that changes a lot but I better ask you if you know an easy written site where I get all the information I need to get the most out of my p08.
Thx for your links in advance, hope you can help me :)

No difference mate, same subtractive style ;).

Best advice I can give though, is to spend time f**k around. Tutorials can be great but often you won't be left with a true understanding of how every knob actually functions, what it affects. Combine tutorials with extended periods of f**k around and you'll be there in no time.

thank you for your reply.
I will fly trough some sites and read about some things which seem to be interessting and important to me, combine them with knowledge I already have and try a bit out by my own what the synth is able to do and how it is able to do it.

thank you memory cords, the links you gave me are for sure helpful but now I have quiet a big problem (if I can't solve it maybe I wasted 2000€)
I will post a topic now into the HELP! forum, I don't know if maybe you could help me or if it must be a p08 owner.

Sorry for the late post, but I had no Internet over the weekend.
Thank you for the links. I think the links which memory cords posted are shorter and easier to read. I will start with them and than look at the synth secrets if something isn't clear.
EDIT:
I've read trough all 7 links but somehow i knew allready everything written there. Now I have no time, but this days I will read trough some parts of the synthsecrets and see if there something helps me more.
