honestly, just dig in! ;)

It's a good sounding synth that will give you some interesting Korg-style FM sounds once you get your hands dirty. And it's about the simplest incarnation of FM synthesis, so it shouldn't take you long to figure out what's going on with manual in hand.

I imagine a patch editor for the DS-8 would work for the 707 (minus delay) if you want to go that route.

I just missed an opportunity to buy a DS-8 with one broken key for 35$ :(
They're both the Korg equivalent of Yamaha FB-01 with a twist. I've always wanted to try them out.

Only have experience with the DS-8 but the 707 is basically the same thing I think minus the FX

It's a wicked little synth that’s quite under rated and not that popular, often over looked.. Dig right in, it should be easy. It uses the Yamaha FM chip but programming this is way different to a Yamaha FM synth, Korg tried to make FM easy and instead of Operators and what have you you get a architecture that's basically a subtractive synth! Very odd indeed

thanks guys! I'm just gonna dig in without an editor.

sucks that my "Yes" button is going bad. Guess I'll have to be gentle. These M&M buttons don't seems easy to fix.

Nothing to it once you get it open. Put a set in mine last year. Will look at the extra switches and get Mouser part numbers for you.
