I am on vacation in Vermont right now and I'm I'm going to be driving home through New Hampshire in a few days. I planned on visiting the NESM on the way home..something I had been meaning to do for the past few years since I live south of Boston but I just never got around to it. Doing some research I was very sad to find out that Dave the curator of NESM has passed away (a year ago tomorrow) it's really a shame that he passed away at 49 and that the synth museum never really seemed to fully come to fruition.
Does anyone know what the current status is of the NESM? If it even still exists or accepts visits and who is taking care of all of Dave's gear?

Re: New England synth museum-Does anyone know the status of
I actually live in Nashua, and was one of his last visitors before he passed away. So many synths, half of them not operational, he had a leaky roof, etc... but was still a cool knowledgeable guy with lots of great synths and stories. Minute you walk in front door there like like 15 synths just laying aroung everywhere (arps, aries OBs, etc..)
When he told me he was sick he said he was thinking about shipping some to a Canadian museum. I believe his whole estate went to his brothers and sisters, so Im not sure what they are doing with it, although Im pretty sure its not operational right now. It was only him running it. I know he was close to a synth guy in Boston (forget his name). He would probably know. Weird before I left the last time I mentioned, I wish he could find a way to keep this stuff in the new england region. May sound weird but maybe try emailing him, it may foward to someone else.

A Canadian museum? That would have to be Cantos, as their collection contains a great deal of rare music equipment. Some of their synthesizers include a pair of prototype Alesis Andromeda's, a pair of Buchla 700's, a prototype EMS VCS-3, the only known E-Mu Audity, Raymond Scott's one and only Clavivox, and a ton of other gear, including Arp, Moog, Serge, Delta Music Research and E-Mu modular synthesizers. To my knowledge they employ John Leimseider to keep all of their gear functional, and they have guided tours of their facilities, but I do not know how much use their collection actually gets. It's worth mentioning their their collection list indicates the place of origin of each piece, and (at this time) it doesn't appear there is anything from New Hampshire, where the New England Synth Museum was located.

"origin" in this case means where a particular item was manufactured, not where they got it from.
