Synth Identification from Photo - Help Request

Post by DarknessFalls » Sun Sep 11, 2011 7:14 am

I wonder if anyone can help me identify any of the audio equipment in this photo (make & model)? I think this was probably taken around the year 2000 timeframe...

I wonder what the keyboard is, mainly. But I would also like to know what other audio/synth components are going on here.

Thanks!!

Looks like: Roland JP-8080, Yamaha MU-80, Mackie mixer, KRK monitors.

The keyboard is just some old MIDI controller, nothing special.

The yellowy-orange blur in the rack on the right looks kinda like a Mark of the Unicorn midi time piece. But can't be sure from the resolution of the photo.

Looks like a cassette deck behind the JP-8080. :)

Middle rack unit on the right looks like it could possibly be a Roland GP-8.

Is the owner of that stuff anyone someone here might have heard of? That kind of info always helps.

Couple of Digidesign interfaces for Pro Tools and a Tascam DAT machine along with the already mentioned kit.
You always want just one more Synth!

Wow! Very cool. Thanks everyone! You're all very smart and prompt about this stuff. I had no idea this would've been so easy :) The photo is apparently from an old Looking Glass Studios setup. I'm trying to figure out what synths were used for two video games they created called "Thief 1: The Dark Project," and "Thief 2: The Metal Age."

Eric Brosius did audio for the games, but with both he and his wife Terri Brosius (a keyboardist) being musicians, there's a chance the audio may have been created from equipment they own, rather than what's seen in this photo.

Here are a few demonstrations of Thief 2's audio, if you're curious, or if it helps rule out the audio equipment in the above photo. Or maybe you'll recognize specific sounds in here as being created from a specific synth, thereby completely solving the puzzle. They're mostly ambients, meant to accentuate the gameplay atmosphere, rather than be "songs," per se.

For anyone still reading :) ... Here's a Thief 2 mission briefing example, with bits of synth work:

Thanks again!
