I am quite new to the Monomachine, or sequencers in general. It's my next step so to say, after I learned to use Synthesizers.
The situation now is this: I want to use it for my next pop band / project. I didn't start it yet, so I can't say anything about how many people there will be, but anyway, I want at least to be able to do the beat, bass, synth and some sequencer/arp sounds all by myself.
So I thought, I take my NordLead, the Monomachine, and the Mopho Desktop.
But now here's the problem:
When creating a song in the Monomachine, I might have to program a lot of Patterns before. A verse usually consists of at least 256 steps already, which would take up to 4 patterns already, unless the key is all the same.
Add chorus, bridge, this or that, and 16 patterns (one bank) is full quite soon. Since the Monomachine has 8 banks, there is not really place for a full concert.
Unless I get things really wrong here.
I tried another method, using the song mode again, creating patterns, but all in the same key, so I'd change the keys directly on the NordLead when using midi channel 7 to go into the MNM's Multi Trig Sequencer Transpose mode.
But this doesn't seem to work, as in the song mode, the MNM will stick to the same pattern and not go to the next step of the Song Sequencer.
I am quite short before giving up.. what would you recommend me to do? Which method is the best to fit my needs?
Is the Monomachine really that limited for synthpop, or should I get another main sequencer to program songs?
How to use Monomachine for Pop?
