yeahhhhhhh. Love all those patch points. I wish more companies would do stuff like this. Seems to be aimed directly at the minitaur market. More knobs, more features and probably an amazing sound. If I didn't already have a few monosynths, I'd definitely consider this.

Always nice to see another entry into the synth world - this one strikes me as the most fully featured desktop ana-mono to date (seems to be going for a pro1 vibe) - and the multiple filter idea is cool. But why make people choose? I guess to keep cost down, but sort of ability to switch between a couple modes would have really taken the cake.

These look cool, but I can't see getting one to be honest. The most exciting part is the different filter types and that's just as easily covered by the modular world...I'll have to wait and see how they actually sound.

What's dodgy? All I see missing are audio examples. I don't remember them ever being big on youtube/tweaking the knobs clips. I mean they have a HUGE image of it on their site. You can read what EVERY knob does. I take some of that back: apparently the AUDIO demos button doesn't work (yet).

Which almost sounds like you are saying "Enough with the monos". Let's see, we spent how many years bitching and complaining about VA and how no one has the balls or good sense to release analogs and ...how many are out now- over the span of how many years?

There's ALWAYS been a ton of desktop monos available, you just never heard of any of the companies. Now Arturai, a bigger name, drops one and the whole world is shaken up. Go to analog haven and grab any under $400 dollar monosynth and slap a KORG sticker on front and see if it sells 8 million units.

Arturia has the brand awareness, but I'm not sure it will have the "sound". SE is known for having the sound, but unless they launch some kind of major campaign, I don't know if a whole lot of people with jump on the bandwagon. They might have to wait till someone famous uses it. That said, I'm glad we have this many choices.

Or maybe SE they should copy the Arturia marketing video schemes.
1. Have an androgynous personality make a song in under 3 minutes. Because all us musicians NEED to make our songs that quickly. I mean really, who has time to really work on music these days? I need my hitz in minitz.

2. Show 5 seconds of the synth in action, 4 minutes of the DJ running to the gig and 3 seconds of the actual show. See, making the music aint so important- it's the lifestyle behind the music. Hurry. hurry rush, rush.

^ the minibrute is sounding pretty good to me. Head over and watch some of AG's demos. Tbh the minibrute is much more interesting than these SE synths just because they bothered trying something new and interesting with it's bizarre oscillator waveshaping etc.

The main difference between the SE and the Arturia is that SE is still on its path of emulating vintage sounds, whereas Arturia is trying to take analog and he some new sounds out of it. Nothing wrong with having the old sounds available but with Moog, SE, MFB, MacBeth and others going for it, it's nice to see Arturia offer an alternative.

Yeah, and I LIKE that alternative. I've always wanted a polivoks but didn't want to deal with the unreliability and lack of midi. Bang! Here comes a new affordable synth with some of that saturation and aggression available to it (Like the bubbly incredibly self resonant filter that just screams, the brute factor etc.) and It's like the rain at the end of the drought.

It's not quite a replacement for the polivoks but it'll do....

This offering looks great, I love SE stuff. It's great that so many non-menu driven monos are being released right now, with CV even. For many of us, this is where it's been at all along. But what is causing Moog, Arturia, Macbeth and now SE to fuel a more widespread renaissance in 2012?

Wow, a desktop ATC, with knobs, a couple 1/8" patch points, and less options.
What will they think of next?
Maybe they'll try something revolutionary like repackaging one of their existing synths in a new color, and adding a letter or number to the name.
