synth documentaries
Can anyone recommend some good synth or electronic documentaries. I have the moog one already. I'm looking for something with interesting artists, not ones with Emerson and prog artists.

Re: synth documentaries
unfortunately this is one that i've never seen online or even replayed on pbs:
http://www.shoppbs.org/product/index.js ... Id=1816263
part 4 is pretty sweet, its about electronic music and it was aired around the same time as techno enjoyed a certain popularity in the 90's with the height of rave culture and mtv amped playing electronica. the rest of the documentary is really good as well, it was a shame when vh1 pirated the idea and made it into a schlockfest that pretended only the beatles and hair metal were worth talking about.
on netflix i watched bernie worrell: stranger on earth, which was kind of neat but the producer failed epically by making a film about bernie, starring bernie, and never once interviewing him and pretty much making him out to be stark raving mad.
another one on netflix that was sort of interesting was copyright criminals, which examined early sampling culture with an eye towards hip hop but missed the point by trying to present the RIAA sampling and filesharing narrative alongside the people that it attempted to bankrupt.
i know those arent exactly about synths. hope there's a few more out there that people will mention. great idea for a thread

Re: synth documentaries
There is SO much misinformation in the "Things That Hum" doc. Still a fun watch, though.

Re: synth documentaries
BBC has a lot of nice docus about synths / electronic music. Search for it on youtube, you might want to look e.g. at 'the new sound of music' or the 'radiophonic workshops'.

Don't know whats worse in "Things that hum"- the Les Rhythmes Digitales guy or the two 'music journalists' that think everything is 'rubbish'
