When I preordered them from sweetwater my sales rep told me late July.

Moog Audio says end of June.

MF is saying mid July, but with all the delays in the MS20 Mini, I wouldn't be surprised if Volcas are pushed to end of summer or September.

They'll get here when they get here. Go play with the toys you already have and stop worrying.

Also, I would not expect all three to release at the same time, based on what my sales guy said. But, who knows.f

I can't find a single video on youtube where the Volca Bass sounds even close to good. From what I've heard so far the EA1 blows this thing out of the water despite being cheap 90s va. I'm assuming it's just the people who made the videos didn't show it off properly but I'd really like to see an example of this thing sounding even remotely close to a 303 or anything other than thin bleeps and blips. I know it hasn't even been released yet but usually someone gets one early to show off it's capabilities. Even the videos put out by Korg and the guy who designed it are pretty terrible.

I've also been underimpressed with what I've heard so far, but hey what should I expect for $150? They have the right look, so maybe people are listening with their eyes

People are excited because of the price and capabilities! They look like alot of fun. You really won't know how they sound until you go to the store yourself and try them, or you hear them at your house or apartment or where ever you make music. It's like that for every synth. YouTube demos don't really do anything justice. It's how it is. If you're not interested in the volcas, why read this thread?

sure, there is the whole possibility that one or all of the Volcas will turn out to be semi-useless turkey-toys, but them's the breaks when you're an early adopter.

I think we need to separate the sound and the song. So far every DSI Tempest video has been horrible to my ears. I haven't seen one yet that made my hair stand up. Both music and the sound hasn't been crazy. Knowing WHAT IT IS I feel like 'in my hands' it'd ...sound different and do different. Even videos about the sequencer sound like a mess...could be my ego kicking in or just maybe the specs say more than the spectacle.

So far, my take on the volcas series...somebody noodling and some weird sounds coming out. Even those with tremendous dexterity are doing things that's a lot easier to do on other gear and when the sound itself isn't anything insane...it seems like the main idea is to be FUN and not so much your new secret analog weapon. And for the price and physical layout, what do you really expect?

The MSmini sounds good to me and I hear the kind of sounds I'd probably make, if I owned one, being created and shown off by every demo. Sonically, I don't see how you could say it's not a winner.

I think you will be sorely disappointed if you expect to buy a Volca and have it NOT sound just like one of those videos.
And if you have to use it sparingly or 'fix it' with your studio, what's the point of getting super-excited?

I think that's the right approach. Everyone grab one, be underwhelmed...sell em for dirt cheap- wait 2 years, let someone else make something GREAT and have the prices skyrocket- achieve orbit as a classic- price goes insane- and 10 years from now, someone will beg KORG to make them again and someone else will explain how impossible and unlikely it is. Let's repeat the cycle.

man, i don't know what to say. that's so jaded. Plenty of us weren't alive for the original release of all the old goodies, and don't want to wait until we're 40 or 50 to buy them, if we could. maybe I watched the videos and thought "those look like fun, I would enjoy making music with them, in any capacity, whether it's recorded, and put on a CD, or just goofing around in my bedroom".

You're on a forum called "vintage synth" so there's gonna be a ton of people praising the old synths, and wanting more. give me a break.

Well I don't know about the rest of the world but when the EA-1 came out over here it was $1000, the Volca Bass is $200. It's not really that surprising that something costing one fifth the price isn't better is it?
