disposing of an old unwanted organ
This is not a "for sale" ad... I have this organ I acquired for my wife that ended up being a dud when it got here. It doesn't work except for the drum machine, and it's an "off brand" that no one seems to want. I tried giving it away for free and no one wanted it. So it's time to get rid of it...
I'm going to remove all the electronics and simply throw the wooden parts in the dumpster.
Does anyone know where I should dispose of the electronics... or does anyone want to use it for parts or anything? I really dont know what to do with it all.
It's a "Kimball Superstar II"

Bummer that it didn't work out...
Many municipalities have electronics recycling programs--computers, cell phones, etc. Maybe call your area's recycling center and see if there isn't a drop off location.

that is helpful - i just wish there was some greater purpose this could serve - i mean think about how we all hold our synths on high pedestals... its too bad unwanted stuff like this exists - i just wish the components were of some use for other synths or organs or somethingEsus wrote:Bummer that it didn't work out...

At least it did not work, there is something really sad about throwing out a perfectly fine organ because no one will take it.

that's true! too bad the amplifier and drum machine cannot be practically removed and repurposed... i mean... i'm ok w/ some DIY stuff but i really dont have the drive to figure out how to do organ surgery haha
also all of the keys and latches look pretty nice... and it has IC's... maybe i'll try to see if they're standard or worth anything

Well, you could always pull the boards and see if any more involved DIYers want 'em.

Re: disposing of an old unwanted organ
Awesome. I'd definitely be interested in using it to make an external CV/Midi J wire keyboard. I've always wanted one because I like the action on the J wire boards I've owned.

Re: disposing of an old unwanted organ
If the keybed is made by Pratt-Read it could be used for parts on several brands of vintage Synths. I got a Pratt-Read keyboard from an old Zachary organ and it came in handy for J-wires, springs, and replacement keys.
