WHAAAAT. Really? I have always thought exactly the opposite. To me, the Voyager is one of the deepest analog monosynths available on today's market. What makes you feel that way?

By that, I mean the sound on basic patches were clean, normal, no drama. I'm sure, If I knew how to navigate it better in those two minutes I would have got some gold but I barely had time to go through a simple sound and tweak the typical front panel parameters. I always feel like i'm imposing when approaching expensive equipment in a shop so only dare to have a quick look.
I have nearly pulled the trigger on many moog's in the past but the Sub37 is the most beautiful looking out of them all (IMO) and couldn't resist going for it regardless of whether I have heard the tone first hand or not.

Ok, when used using the basic settings with the sub osc off, the sub phatty can sound like a little phatty.

One of people's big complaints about the LP was there wasn't one knob per function.

So when Moog designed the Sub Phatty, they tried to give you one knob per function.

And they ran out of front panel, so there's a bunch of hidden functions.

On the Sub 37, many of those hidden functions are brought back out and given labelled controls on the front panel. And it has a display. And an arp/step sequencer. And a second LFO.

I'm hoping Automatic Gainsay with chime in but i'm not sure he likes me or I register on his radar.

in the absence of much information on the sub37/sub phatty I've started to veer closer to the Dominion 1.

I like that it has hpf, bpf.

it's also going to be easier to use live as the sub37 is rather large and odd shaped. (hard to find a case for it)

only thing that really bugs me is the ribbon controllers.

much rather have wheels.


anyway, still waiting on some mind changing info on the moog but hey, I just moved to Brooklyn so it'll be a lot easier for me to gain personal access to the sub37/sub phatty.

yes, what did you find with the sound? Have you had experiences with the other modern moog's and vintages to compare. A few minutes with a machine is not much get a great idea admitted but I think you can tell if you'd love it, hate it or just whatev's from the initial tone.

I like the sound fine, I dislike the limited patch storage and lack of a display as compared to a Little Phatty/Slim Phatty. The Sub Phatty, sound-wise, is like a Little/Sub Phatty , that has sub oscs, cause thats what it is... it can range from 'not that different' to 'significantly different'. Its a slight evolution of the existing Phatty voice architecture.

I don't think AG has had one at home for testing, thus he can't comment on its sound and qualities. If he had, he'd surely make at LEAST 5 videos on it.

Yeah, I appreciate that. He has however had the sub phatty and I have watched his vids a few times through to get an idea. He does seem complimentary in them though. I'd kinda hope he'd be a lot more honestly critical on here so that's why I questioned.

Does anyone still know if it'll be shipping this month? I've ordered this synth but it says it is still not in production on the Moog site.
