Q4 2014

Let's check back at Christmas :lazy:

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

This update is aimed very squarely at Roland's AIRA line. Remember, the TR-8 can give you separate outputs for every instrument via USB MIDI, one of the features that Roland is really touting in this product. That's basically what this does, too.

So, Elektron is saying, why buy a TR-8 when you can use our RYTM and do exactly the same thing? Oh yeah, our box is real anlog, too. :D

This is absolutley brilliant! Turning your A4 into an audio interface, and being able to record tracks separately but simultaneously? Wow...just wow. :dancer:

Yeah, this is pretty awesome. For me the wait is no problem anyway, as I won't be able to afford any of these babies until fall at the earliest.

I keep resisting the urge to buy an a4 and elektron just keeps tossing out more temptations...

The free polyphony update for the A4 was pretty incredible, and now this. It's like they actually care about their customers. What a beautiful concept.

Wow, how did they know what Roland was going to come out with years ago when they were putting the AD and DA convertors into the original A4 design?

This is sounding good. I think I have mentioned that I have been struggling with Logic intergration with my elektron stuff. A4 individual outs will be a blessing.

I have the Analog Keys coming over the next few days, was supposed to be here today but dealers are just getting them back in now. This is a great move by Elektron, I am also on Logic so will be great to see how all this integrates in future.

I'm talking about the timing of the update's release.

Yes I realise that, I was being humorous. ;)

Just realised that the AD and DAs they're using are from the digital fx section, each voice has an AD wired off the side to send to the fx section, tapping that to get individual outs wouldn't be too much of an ask. If they already had the DSP to send audio over USB in the machine waiting for a software update to activate it it makes a fair bit of sense, when I first read about this I thought they must have put the AD/DA section in there unused like they did with the +drive in the original A4.

One thing I will give Elektron, they seem to look on the internet and see the phrase "Can't be done" and then decide to do exactly that. The VST/hardware total integration has been promised, for like 5 or more years. Any kind of hardware that can dump/sum on it's own has been talked about endlessly. Individual outs via USB????

And I thought burning it's own files on CD was the business.

I just don't know about this timing thing - as if companies sit around trying to steal each others thunder.
I see it as wanting a big announcement for every industry event and not much being reactionary.

I don't even know if they spend their days thinking VERSUS every minute.
Truly they are not even close price-wise like it's really a toss up.

We're talking hundreds of dollars and even some, a thousand apart.
And core functionality matches all the price points.

The Elektron just seems to be justifying its Workstation-level status.

Electron gear is totally worth the money, I don't think they're trying to justify anything. I don't see anything wrong with them adding functionality like this, it's not something that any reasonable person would complain about.
