Ebay scam risk? EDIT: EBAY higgity HACKED!
Trying to sell something on ebay, unfortunately... Getting offers from 0 feedback user, Should I absolutely not sell to this person? I asked for any reputation elsewhere to back him up. He could copy and paste any users name though I suppose... What do you all think? I would feel really bad if this guy legitimately was trying to buy this and I prevent that though. Any way to safely deal with a new ebayer when selling high priced synths? Thank you all.

Not worth the risk IMO. Even if he's legit, dealing with eBay newbs can be a nightmare.

The only way I'd sell an expensive item to a new low feedback member is with cash, then they can't try to pull any kind of b.s. with PayPal.

So I guess all the good synth deals on eBay is off-limits to someone like me, who never sold or bought anything off ebay, then.

Yup. You'll have to buy some other stuff first.
Re: Ebay scam risk?
I've seen ads where low feedback people mention their VSE credentials and then I just contact them on the forums here and buy not through ebay
Re: Ebay scam risk?
Thanks everyone. Despite me telling him I would not do business without background or rep, he still bid on the item...
It is DEFINITELY an attempt at a scam. So now, I have to bother with this garbage. & I could care f**k less if I get a negative feedback from this.. Im not shipping anything to this character. Gotta deal with a dumbass at least once. It happens to all the greats feedback.
I would almost rather just smash this synth into pieces before selling it on ebay now though...
Its dangerous on ebay. Keep your head on a swivel.
& Yeah, for any newcomer to ebay, it seems your chances are slim unless you grind feedback off dinky trinkets.
Start off in belt buckles, then work your way up the ranks, through doilies, then through arcade pcbs, allowing you to finally take part in the synth market.

I'd make an exception for you.Bitexion wrote:So I guess all the good synth deals on eBay is off-limits to someone like me, who never sold or bought anything off ebay, then.
Re: Ebay scam risk?
After further research seems he was trying to get me to deliver to a rental property. On google images, it has boarded up windows... Thats not questionable...
EDIT:
I refunded the paypal money immediately, (he used BIN) opened a case for transaction cancelation, he denied it. Now it says I wont get "final value fee credit" and to continue with transaction. I dont know what that is? but Im still not going to ship anything that way... (laughs) Ebay really is awful...

Ahh I see.. Just bypass the bs and call eBay and explain the situation, i.e. someone with no feedback or credentials is trying to buy your expensive instrument and wants it shipped out to a boarded up rental property.

Re: Ebay scam risk?
Just get hold of eBay customer support.
They can read your msg's to him, denying him from buying from you.
Right now you are dealing with eBay's automatic system.. get a human to fix the problem.
Put in your relisting you will deny very low or 0 feedback and/or new accounts from bidding without contacting you first to be approved... that you reserve the right to cancel ANY bids.
