No! just...no!. Moog needs to stop reissuing the same goddamn synth over and over with slightly different LED lights or a new alminium finish. And get to making NEW synths. This is becoming ridiculous. It's just pointless fan service.

honestly that is right in my backyard in terms of esthetics and well, unconditional moog worshipery.
But I hate 'limited edition' collector nerd fodder. That and I really can't see spending that much over the price of a standard Voyager with no added functionality and heavier weight!
Really, these will have to weigh a ton if that is all billet.
Still I wouldnt kick one out of bed for eating crackers.

Open Mon-Fri | 4:00 – 6:00pm
170 Broadway St. Asheville, NC
2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the first modular voltage-controlled synthesizer, an instrument that forever changed the course of modern music. Today, on May 23rd, Moog Music celebrates what would have been the 80th birthday of this unique instrument’s inventor, Dr. Robert Moog, by transforming our newly renovated space at 170 Broadway Street into a free public gallery and photo exhibit.
Photos of the early years of the Moog synthesizer’s inception [1964 – 1970] will give a view into one of the music industry’s most important innovations and the man that pioneered it. The free exhibition will run daily from 4:00 – 6:00PM [M – F]. The exhibit will close on June 23, 2014.
Visitors to the exhibition will also have the chance to receive* The Sound of Moog, a 45-inch vinyl re-pressing demonstrating the sounds of the Moog modular made by Chris Swansen. Originally on flexi-disc, this recording wad included with with the early Moog modulars.
Those not able to attend the gallery in person can view the photos here.
To further celebrate Bob's birthday we are offering 10% off all Moog Merch and Apparel through Monday May 26th, use code BDAY10 at check out.

So why is this particular product limited to 100?
I would love to own one, but it has to get in line behind several other intended purchases.
So this "only 100 available!" means I will just skip it, or hope that someone is still stocking it by the time I get my modular more filled out and purchase whatever Elektron box I end up settling on.
I do have to add that "reissuing the same goddamn synth over and over" is exactly what a lot of us wish some of the other companies were doing. How many threads begging Roland to reissue the 303 or 909?
Fender and Gibson aren't going out of business selling Les Pauls and Stratocasters.
They have come out with new models that nobody likes. So they go back to what works.
I just hate limited edition elitist c**p.

Hmm. If you're a company who sells stuff to make money, and your customers are saying this, maybe you could make MORE money by meeting their needs. I happen to remember a synthesizer designer who built his business on this concept. Weirdly, and despite vast differences in strategy, he had the same name as this company.
And yes, it is Moog's intent to make money by rehashing the same synths. And that's it.

Quick quiz: Which is the low hanging fruit?
1. Ordering new colors for your existing product from your parts source
2. Researching and developing a completely new product
Hint: It's not #2.

Re: Limited Edition Aluminium Voyager - 100 Worldwide
honestly Moog is in the same place as Apple.
Both companies no longer have their founders around to guide them.
And both companies will be flamed by the same people who buy their stuff no matter what they do.
Moog comes out with another Mini spin off=rehash.
Moog comes out with the Sub37=not really a poly.
ps I own a buttload of Apple and Moog.

I have been a long-time Apple supporter.
I have been a long-time Moog supporter.
Within the last decade or so, I have lost faith in them because they have lost their way.
P.S. The Second Version of Moog Music has never made a Mini rehash.
The Sub 37 was never advertised as a poly. It's a traditional duo. It is paraphonic, though... as both voices are directed through a single filter/amp combination. They were just trying to be technically accurate.
