Minimoog Fade-In Effect?
Has anyone who ever played a Minimoog ever tried to play a long-drawn-out note with a fade-in effect by playing it at low volume and gradually increasing the volume for that one note?
What I am bringing up is similar to how the very end of Linda Ronstadt's 1975 #1 classic "You're No Good" was conceived: for the first 30 seconds, when the outro plays, over a backdrop of guitar, bass, minimal drums, and Wurlitzer, the string section track was initially played back on the mixing desk at low volume and the master control fader for that track was then gradually moved upward to increase its loudness, by which point the ukulele Telecaster guitar comes in.
What I want to recreate can be heard here:
Thank you,
Ben

Organists have been using expression pedals for this exact purpose for hundreds of years.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

This effect may come in handy for all those of you who play the first 30 seconds of the outro to this classic song live in concert using a Minimoog synth.

Re: Minimoog Fade-In Effect?
I want to cover this song but all I have is a Casio CZ-101. How can I get this MiniMoog effect?
Re: Minimoog Fade-In Effect?
You can't--the CZ doesn't have an analog volume control.madtheory wrote:I want to cover this song but all I have is a Casio CZ-101. How can I get this MiniMoog effect?

Re: Minimoog Fade-In Effect?
Is there a master volume control? If yes, play the string sound hitting the B5-flat key (932.33 Hz) with the volume control on low, gradually increasing it until full volume is approached.madtheory wrote:I want to cover this song but all I have is a Casio CZ-101. How can I get this MiniMoog effect?
