It was always coming, I just can't expect that it won't be terrible though. Everything they do is a step down from the state of the art in terms of sound, build quality and usability. At least it'll be cheap.

I'm gonna flip my s**t if they actually end up using the name "PHAT-108".

Who expected Arturia would be the ones to the ones to bring affordable analogue back to the synthesizer market?
Who expected Korg to re-release the Odyssey (eventually)?
Whatever happens, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

I still remember all the years of people saying analog synths would never be made on a large scale again

I most definitely do not want a Juno-type synthesiser.

Shall we try not to s**t on this before we know any details?
Could be interesting.
Wonder if they'll sell these in Tandy Alan?

Analog was never affordable. Unless you count stuff like pAiA kits (Gnome, anyone?), $500 was the cheapest I remember...SH-101...and that was in 1980s dollars.Dr. Phibes wrote:Who expected Arturia would be the ones to the ones to bring affordable analogue back to the synthesizer market?
Volcas, Brutes, etc. are the most affordable analogs ever.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Yeah the analogue giants of the early 80s were NOT cheap. $7000 for an OB-8. People seem to think it was easily affordable just because it was "the 80s".

However the Junos and JX's were more affordable, and the Alpha Junos were very affordable..

By today's standards, cocaine was a lot cheaper in the 1980s, too.Bitexion wrote:Yeah the analogue giants of the early 80s were NOT cheap. $7000 for an OB-8. People seem to think it was easily affordable just because it was "the 80s".
I couldn't even afford any of the Junos, Polsixes, JXs, Bits, Siels etc. Couldn't afford cocaine either (though I didn't care much about that).

Re: Behringer to make analog polysynths !
I remember coming across an April Fools prank online about 10 years ago with Behringer announcing a $300 analog.
Whatever they do, I wouldn't be opposed to a hybrid or a VA. Behringer isn't exactly known for tight QC, and getting away from analog relieves them of some of that responsibility. Additionally, a VA would give them a chance to innovate at low-cost, as I would be more interested in seeing something distinct, novel, and new hit the market, than a poly rehash of something in the style of a Minibrute or Bassstation.
