this new song from Pink Floyd makes me feel like its a tribute to their late great keyboard player. The one and only Richard Wright.

The new album 'The Endless River' is dedicated to Rick Wright's memory and features many performances by him.

Lyricist and writer Polly Samson wrote the lyrics to Pink Floyd’s new song Louder Than Words which appears on their forthcoming album The Endless River.

This is not the first time Polly has written lyrics for Pink Floyd as she also did an excellent job on The Division Bell and her husband David Gilmour’s solo album On An Island.

I also read David commenting on Polly's lyrics, and yes they are inspired about Richard Wright.

yeah, at first I thought that they found a keyboardist who was as good as him, but then after posting that last post I figured out it that it sounded so good because it WAS him.

to me Richard Wright was a true synth GOD. His synth tracks all ways complemented the song, rather that say showing off in true Jordan Rudes fashion.

When he died, not only was it a sad day for all Pink Floyd fans, but it was also a sad day for any synth head or keyboard nut like so many of us our.

BUT HIS MUSIC WILL ALL WAYS LIVE ON. HE'S JUST NOW PLAYING HIS GREAT GIG IN THE SKY.

and thanks seamonkey, I had know idea that David Gilmours wife wrote so much of their lyrics. When I was 16 I went to see the Pink Floyd Pulse tour in Vancouver BC. It was to this day the best concert I have ever been too. 2nd best goes to Roger Waters 30th year recreation of "THE WALL"

but the Pulse concert was jaw dropping. I had the double disk CD which I loved, it had a red LED light in it that "pulsed" for about ten years before it ran out of juice.

p.s. I have a 3 year old son, and I think a cool set of seamonkeys would make an awesome x mass gift! Thanks in a round about way for giving me that idea.

I agree. To me, it was as a pianist that he really shone but I still love his Farfisa, Hammond and synth textures. Somehow, I always feel there is a lot going on in that Gm chord in the intro to SOYCD.

The battery can be changed apparently. My copy is a later version so it's in a standard CD case with no LED. I have been listening to Pulse in a loop over the last two weeks (the latest album doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid) and I've watched the DVD again several times. It is one of my favourite albums of all time.

h**l yeah, the pulse double disk is awesome, the first disk is a bunch of different hits, the 2nd was the full darkside of the moon with a couple wall songs for encore. and it's live too. I still have mine, and one if not both disks are allways in my 6 disk cd player in the car. Pink Floyd ever stops road rage!!! when someone cuts me off I just smile and wave

Agree, Pulse DVD is one of my favorites.
I also highly recommend the David Gilmour Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD which is a concert in support of David's solo On an Island cd.
Lot of classic Pink Floyd music including Echoes from the Meddle album.
There is a later DVD Live In Gdansk from the same tour and I believe one of Richard's last shows.(I don't have this one, but it's gotten very high reviews).

"Dogs" from ANIMALS is eighteen minutes time's worth of thin, floating, analog chords and Minimoog solos set more distant than in the mixes of WISH YOU WERE HERE and DARK SIDE OF THE MOON.

p.s. Regarding one of the solos on "Dogs" . . . that second sounds exactly as if Billy Currie guests using his own ARP.

Wright's tight rhythm electric piano and volume swells on the Hammond organ are also a distinctive selection of keys, riffing; I must always return for listens.

I always thought the sync synth solo on "Run Like h**l" (Prophet 5?) reminded me of something Billy Currie could have played.
