Hi. I am new to controllers and have a question for someone who could help me. I can't seem to access patches from my Roland Super JV. I followed the instructions from the online A-33 manual but nothing seems to work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK, first things to check:
- did you connect the MIDI out of the A33 to the MIDI in of the JV?
- are both units set to the same MIDI channel?
If you can play the sounds then you should be OK.

Then check that the JV is set to receive Program Change messages:
- press the SYSTEM button on the JV module
- press the DOWN cursor button TWICE
Make sure the MIDI Receive settings look like this:

Now let's check that the A33 is sending the right Prog Change messages. Follow the procedure explained on pages 19 and 20 of the A33 manual:
- the MSB/CC00 and LSB/CC32 values for the various banks are as follows (from page 133 of the JV manual):

User bank: 80, 0, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
Preset A bank: 81, 0, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
Preset B bank: 81, 1, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
Preset C bank: 81, 2, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
Preset D bank: 81, 3, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
Data card bank: 82, 0, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
PCM card bank: 83, 0, followed by programme change number (1 - 128)
Expansion card A bank: 84, 0, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - first 128 patches
Expansion card A bank: 84, 1, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - last 128 patches
Expansion card B bank: 84, 2, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - first 128 patches
Expansion card B bank: 84, 3, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - last 128 patches
Expansion card C bank: 84, 4, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - first 128 patches
Expansion card C bank: 84, 5, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - last 128 patches
Expansion card D bank: 84, 6, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - first 128 patches
Expansion card D bank: 84, 7, followed by programme change number (1 - 128) - last 128 patches

So, to call up patch 130 from the expansion card installed in slot A, you would send the following message: 84,1,2
To call up user patch 56, you would send 80,0,56
As you can see, the program change number on its own is not enough.

I hope this helps.
