I have been developing a live set the last few months using toy keyboards (casio SA 35, Rapman etc), simple drone synths made by Micchael Rucci, an old Zoom st224 sampler, some lunchbeats and other simple electronic instruments. I'm really enjoying getting as far away from high speced synths as possible. It seems also fashionable here in NZ. I wondered if any one else was striving for a primitive simplicity in their live stuff and what kind of set ups they were using?

I have be one several shows using Casio SK-1, Casio CK-500, Mattell Synsnics drums, Beat Blenders, Nintendo Gameboy, circuit bent kid's toys, etc.
It's a lot of fun pushing these little devices to their limits and making music with them.

I was trying to several years ago (coincidentally with a Rapman, too, plus some outboard loopers and processors), and while I was amazed at some of the results, I found it a bit too primitive and too limiting. Interesting as an experiment, but ultimately not very satisfying.tom Cadillac wrote: [...] I wondered if any one else was striving for a primitive simplicity in their live stuff and what kind of set ups they were using?
