YAMAHA DX7 Up Velocities up to 127
I have a YAMAHA DX7 with velocities 1-100, i work with SONAR Cakewalk 8 and Mainstage, i need velocities of the DX7 1-127 in overall input MIDI (not for each Track) i want Principal or overall input, i want affect all midi tracks both (without do it for every track of the 24 midi tracks) it is posible?
Note: Logic Pro is possible but mac eats a lot resource of memory, only load 3 instruments VST, and i don't have Pro Tools

I don't know how it's done in logic, but in Reaper (and also Cubase) one can process the incoming midi data, so that the velocity gets shifted. Of course you never have the full velocity, but instead of 0-100, you then have 27-127 which is actually perfectly fine. Check you midi tools in Logic.

The DX7 MK1 will ignore velocity above 100, so no chance. Your only bet is a Grey Matter E! card or a later revision DX7.

When I use the mk1 as a master controller, Ableton Live allows you to set the range for incoming velocity from 27-127 just as Rokk mentioned.

Someone, either anatek or midisolutions had an inline box to remedy the DX's velocity issue.

True, midisolutions have it.

Does anyone know if DX7 IID sends full velocity?

DX7 II suffers from the same issue. The Anatek product was called Pocket Curve. They have been out of business for a while, but you might be able to find a used one. It looks like the MidiSolutions box could do the same thing and more.

Yes it does.Rokk wrote:Does anyone know if DX7 IID sends full velocity?
Have a look at appendix 3 in the manual (MIDI implementation chart; fourth last page).

My old DX7S did transmit up to 127, but you had to hit fairly hard to get it up there irc.
If you use something like Logic, it's trivially easy to adjust, compress, expand, scale and offset incoming velocities in the MIDI thru parameters (or less trivially in the environment).
