Oberheim OB8 vs u-he Diva

Post by SWAN » Tue Aug 25, 2015 6:31 pm

I thought the VSE crowd may be interested in a test I did recently. Ive spent a lot of time looking at u-he Diva and seeing if I can make it sound like my OB8. I got quite close but can you tell which is Synth A and which is B?

The truth is I would never use a synth this way. I would be tweaking the sound continuously using the hardware/software interface to make it more expressive. To me, it is the realtime expressivity that makes an instrument useful to me. I don't know how you make an A/B test for that. As far as this test goes, if I ever wanted that sound played like that, it doesn't seem to matter which tool-both seem equal in this context.
