Lumina Kit for Korg Arp Odyssey

Post by BigDalBass » Fri Nov 20, 2015 4:06 pm

Hi all

I saw a demo of the new Korg Arp Odyssey where Dave Spiers from GForce Software A/B'd it against his original Arp Odyssey which was fitted with a Lumina kit.

Does anybody know of a company that might offer a Lumina kit for the new machine?

Thanks in advance!

Darren

The Lumina kit for a real ARP costs more than the Kodyssey does

I have not heard of anyone offering LED sliders for the Karp.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I already knew who makes the kits, but look what comes up as the first result when you Google "ARP Lumina":

It's Phil Cirocco who sells/installs those Lumina kits.

http://www.discretesynthesizers.com

Looks like it costs 399 usd.

Yeah I did a Google search before posting here.

I was kind of hoping to find someone in the UK (should have said that in the first place....) Sorry! lol

The Lumina kit is one of the ugliest and most useless modifications I have ever seen.

Unless you have some sort of vision trouble, that is.

The Lumina kit won't work on the Korg....different (smaller) sliders.

Not sure how much travel the Korg Odyssey has,but they do exist in smaller dimensions.

Ooops... Sorry, I'm the one responsible for the Lumina upgrade - I sold my Oddy to Gforce a few years ago ;)

I bought the Lumina upgrade directly from CMS and fitted it myself (£250 - so no, it didn't cost quote as much new Korg Odyssey), I also fitted it with the 40235 Dual VCF and added aftertouch for LFO modulation.

I'm afraid there's not much hope for a Lumina type upgrade to Korg's version, as there's just not enough room between the main PCB and the back of the panel to add the slider adapter PCBs, and you can't just replace the Korg's sliders with Bournes LED ones due to a different pin configuration and additional LED power pins - It's a mod that even *I* wouldn't attempt!

Not quite useless - you get brand new sliders, the difference is quite amazing (you can turn the LED's off so it doesn't look like something out of a Disney movie ;) )
