Minitaur noise at random times

Post by moog-lover » Tue Apr 05, 2016 11:16 pm

Hello,

I've adquired a Moog Minitaur, used in very well conditions. It sounds great. However, at random times (spaced in about 20mins) a noise|hiss fades in and keeps noticiable from that moment.

The only way to solve this is by powering off an on the power supply. The original power supply was provided.

I've recorded the speakers using a Zoom H2 mic when this happens. https://clyp.it/qrjgrade

Is there any clue on this issue? Any thing I could try to do?

Thanks!

I really couldn't hear any noise in that clip, there was too much background noise.

But 20 minutes sounds like the time it takes for a synth to warm up, so something shorts or there is a bad soldering somewhere when the metal expands slightly.

hey, good point.
The clip is very audible. I mean, that background noise is the actual noise of the Minitaur when that happens.

Yesterday, I connected the power supply to the power stabilizer. The Minitaur was turned on for about 30 mins without making any background noise. My pc suspended, and when I resumed it, the noise faded in.
