What's one synth/gear piece you own that if you came home and it was stolen/damaged beyond recognition, you'd go out immediately and buy again?

And..and what's the one piece if lost/damaged, you wouldn't be too broken up about it?

Im sure there's something I'm not thinking about, but probably my TR-707. It doesn't even do as much as the others, but it's the one I seem to reach for first. I've sampled it many times and used those, but for some reason I just come up with the right stuff when I'm jamming with the machine. The same goes for the sh-101, which finda it's way onto almost every song I work on.

That, and this situation actually happened with my S series samplers. I always have to have at least one up and running with a decent display. Otherwise, the pining begins....

If my modular was destroyed I'd try to replace it with as many identical modules as I could, a fair few can't be bought any more though. I'd have to get another rytm as well.

I don't really have anything that I wouldn't want to get again, I've sold everything that isn't a really streamlined part of my setup.

Really, I wouldn't be broken hearted if any of it disappeared...as long as my insurance covers it, of course

I've never been super attached to my synths...my basses are another story ;)

I would hav to say my ESQ-1. I loved that sound that I got from it, but it sat unused for a little bit so I sold it....biggest mistake I ever made. :dontknow: :cryin:

Tempest, would buy one the same day, and spend the rest of my life tracking the rat bastard what took ol' #2075.

Analog Rytm, meh not so much. My eyes and fingertips could use the rest.

For me the only one I wouldn't want to be without is my V-Synth, the rest I've always said were a bit of a luxury to have around, don't get me wrong I'd miss them all and it's nice to have so many choices but the've just been a burden in a lot of ways to be honest.

It's the Microwave XT and MS-20m to me. The sound, interface and feel of the instrument are irreplaceable.

My old band sort of fell to bits many, many years ago and just before I got married.... We were all sick of each other and I was so over bands and playing that I decided to sell everything... besides, we were just starting out and broke so the money would be handy just before the wedding...

I sold my JX3p, Juno-106, SH-101, Poly61, a bag full of effects & cables plus a 3 tier aluminium keyboard stand all for about $500 ... yes... that's NOT a typo ... $500

Now all these years later I'm single again ... and boy do I wish I had those keyboards 8-/

Also - I can remember being in a second hand music shop and holding a TR-808 and thinking "$150 for this piece of c**p???? It doesn't even sound like real drums ...."

Oh .... the pain .... the pain....

All of my synths are for sale for the right price. I don't have a "sound", so I can use whatever gets the job done. My wife probably would have a problem if I sold the Voyager she bought me as an anniversary present though. Now my guitars are a different story...

I think I've actually gotten quite used to the utility and sound character of my MicroKorg. I have plenty of synths but if my MK broke down, I would probably go right out and get another one. Even though the interface is a tad fiddly, it ends up being my de facto instrument for experimentation as well (even though I have an MS 2K rack...go figure). It's just very convenient.

Refreshing to hear this sort of "don't care what anyone else thinks; I like this instrument and it works well for me" approach, Walter. I'll be interested in hearing what you think of the new version when it hits.
