Emulator II ? Fairlight ? Help with Patch Name

Hello folks,

I would like to know what was the exact choir patch name that was used in the intro of A Man Could Get Arrested from Pet Shop Boys or also Domino Dancing, thanks a lot !!

I dont know what library is... I was really tired of looking one by one... The crazy part is that sound is a high recognizable one!!

I listened to "A Man Could Get Arrested" and could here no choir sound at all, not in the intro and not in the entire track.

Please provide a link to the tracks and position you want help identifying, as you can't expect people to go to some effort to track down what you are referring to... thanks.

Edit: there's a high, single note melody in Domino Dancing that might be what you are referring to - if so, it's not a "choir" sound as such, but it's one of the vocal "aah" or "ooh" patches so typical of the Fairlight and other samplers - ie a human voice sample, the Fairlight has a few famous ones.

Neil also used to sample himself singing doing vocal sounds for pads and other parts too, so if it's not a library patch, it could possibly be something custom that they did.

Again, the high melody line seems similar to the Domino Dancing high line - is that the sound you mean, or is it the breathy chordal pad sound?

If this is the West End Girls era, it might be an Emulator II patch, as the EII was used on West End Girls and may well be before they used a lot of Fairlight stuff...

The most famous Fairlight vocal sample is SARRAR, which is sometimes labeled ARR1.

I've heard some PSB Fairlight samples and there are definitely ones where they sampled Neil. I've always thought his voice took well to the mutation that a Fairlight provides when it samples a sound.

I know the sound that I'm looking for is NOT ARRS1 (the one for example in the synth solo in "Shout" from Tears For Fears).

Perhaps is Neil's voice...

It's an Emulator II sample, not a Fairlight one. Don't know the name but it was part of the sound library that came with it.

EDIT: I think it's just called "Voices".

Effectively that sound was called VOICES, I've just found it browsing a forgotten library of SF2 sounds !
