The original MK-319 (without modification) is even darker...that was the reason why i bought the moded version !

But i also have a Groove Tube GT-57 microphone, much more "open and airy" sounding.

Both mics are available for a moderate price (compared to Brauner, Neumann, etc...), sure...for different voices ! But as i'm more into Funk/Soul music, my preference goes (for the moment) to the Oktava.

But you're right, with voices that are dark, and when looking for a clear and dinstinctive result, a C414 from AKG would be surely better.
