Hi all,

I'm after recording software to record my synths, drum machines etc.

I just need something really simple to use, so I can arrange the recordings and layer them into a track.

Something free would be great, but willing to pay for something decent. I've used Ableton and the like, but I found they are way too much for what I want to do.

So to summarise:

1. Really easy to use, uncluttered interface.
2. Fast and efficient arrangement of recordings/samples etc.
3. Decent effects for voice samples etc.
4. I have a mac and a pc.

I'd check out Ableton Live LE, which is cheaper, or Mackie's Tracktion.

I tried the Tracktion demo, and so far I bloody love it! I've already layered a sequence and recorded a synth and drum machine..

No worries!

One issue you might have with Reaper is that the Mac version is still in beta.

Absolutely correct. Perhaps, after the "Demos" thread in SOFTWARE, I am a bit sensitive and paranoid about the people "stealing" software by using demos indefinitely and never paying for them.

So, yes, it is free to try, but it is pay-for (on the honour system) if continued to be used.

i'm using Tracktion. it's got more than enough features for me, and i'm very happy so far.
