Dumb/funny/crazy mistakes with synths/recording

I had a really good "blond moment" last night, so I thought the story (and any you guys have) would make a good thread.
Here goes. This is related to recording more so than synths directly. I was re-recording Kristen's Song as individual tracks so I have them for the future (especially since I just sold one of the synths I used in the song). I use Cubase on my laptop as my DAW. In order to keep each track in sync I imported the MIDI file from my Motif into Cubase over my network so Cubase could control everything. I have an mLAN connection on the Motif so I can record multiple tracks simultaneously over Firewire, and normally this works great. However, last night it was giving me issues. If I tried to record more than one track at a time, it would drop out or get fuzzy/distorted. I tried restarting Cubase, rebooting the laptop, nothing worked, except to record only 1 track at a time, muting the other tracks. This process took a while, and after I was finished, I listened to the tracks together, it sounded fine, I saved the project, and went to bed.
Now, this brings us to today (I'm at work now). Sometimes when I work on a song I'll record the tracks at home and then mix them at work (on the same laptop) using headphones while I work. So, I fire up the ol' lappy, and go to open up the project, and... it isn't there! All I could find was an old version. What the... I know I spent 2 hours on it last night, there should be some trace of it on my hard drive.
Ok, now I'm totally perplexed. On a whim, I log in remotely to my PC at home, and sure enough, I found the project files in a shared folder on that PC! Apparently, when I created the project, I created it on a network drive instead of the lappy's C drive, so I was recording 24bit audio over my LAN to another PC! No wonder it had hissy fits when I tried to record too many tracks at once. Not only that, but my laptop was connected via wireless at the time, so it's pretty amazing that it worked at all.
At least my files are in a safe place, but I guess I won't be doing that mix today, since the project, zipped, is nearly 300 megabytes.
:-s :tongue10:
