Roland RE-20 vs Line 6 DL4
thats right, i made a versus thread.
I dont know which one I am leaning towards, though the Line 6 would actually look cooler propped on a synth.
Help me out.

xibalba and i have been ranting about delays lately...looking forward to what he thinks of his incoming echo pro.
never used the RE-20, but have had a ton of delays (104z, RE-201, vortex, MO-FX, DD-5, etc etc) and my DL-4 is one i'll never want to take out of my guitar rig. its looping and morphing from one delay to another via expression pedal is awesome. plus it's got the best tap tempo i've experienced.

The line-6 is far more versatile, but for the space-echo sound the RE-20 destroys it.. Some of the settings on the line-6 are pretty cool though, like the reverse delay, Lo-Res , Rhythmic & the Sweep Echo.
My line 6 has kinda died recently after 2 years of heavy gigging, (the mix knob controls the speed now (?) and it changes speed automatically.) but the loop function still works and its really handy too.
So its no longer useable as a delay pedal really, but I'm gonna replace it, so that must say something about how good it is.
I've heard mixed reports about them dying at a young age, so my next one isnt going to be for the band, just for the synth and drum machines, away from from drunken punters and kurt cobain wannabes. (but thats another story...
)
try them both out if you can, best of luck with it..

None of the above
I have had my eye on the RE-20, but then I found this one instead.

Indeed. I was looking for a good/reliable looper and all the reviews I read of of the 2880, the jamman, and the RC-20 sited many errors that although weren't that common still worried me enough to look elsewhere.OriginalJambo wrote:That new Memory Man looks awesome!
Then I saw this. A looper with built in delay, and a delay that actually sounds good.

EH does make some classics, but i'm not sure about their new stuff. picked up a holy stain, very cool idea for a pedal and the reverb's great, but the setup for switching between its other effects sucks, plus there's a damn time gap in its signal processing when you use its pitch shifter...tallowwaters wrote:no thanks, EH sucks a*s. I like pedals that still work after a few years without any effort from me.
the stereo memory man might be neat, but i'm not sure about it.
plus nothing tops the DL-4's halfing or doubling loop speeds and/or reversing them. well...actually the repeater kind of tops that since it can adjust to any speed, reverse, or pitch shift, but it's not a pedal.
anyway...sucks that yours haven't held up, i've had my Q-tron for 9 years now and the tank still works just fine.

Couldn't you say that about nearly every manufacturer of pedals? Part of the life span is related to how one cares for thier pedals...so far, in my review process I haven't seen any great difference in the reliability of EH products VS any of the other comparative pedals.tallowwaters wrote:no thanks, EH sucks a*s. I would also like to add that if anyone can point me to some reasonable reviews regarding EH products and their reliability issues I would sure appreciate it before I get to invested in this particular one.
I see the DL4 also has a looper built in....hmmm
Reading, the reviews the the DL4 appears to be atrocious in the reliability department...
