Bass Synthesizer Pedals
Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I'm not sure if one would categorize these as synthesizers of sorts, or just pedals...
After chatting with Scott about Behringer's Bass Synthesizer Pedal, the BSY600, I've been considering getting one.

Any of you ever use one of these (I believe Boss and Digitech make one as well)?
Are they pretty cool?
Put any other instruments through them?

The digitech bass synth sucks hard. I hate it. First of all, you can tell if somebody is using one without even looking because it's all presets and way to goofy sounding to be presets. Second of all, it's not a synth, it's an envelope follower (right?). I seem to recall the digitech guitar synth pedal being much more appealing, though.
I've messed with one of the boss synths and I recall being pretty impressed. I also recall, being 14 so my opinion on it isn't so recent. The behringer one seems pretty darn cool for $50 new. Go for it.

so what do I put down here now?

Digitech Synth Wah Pedal
I've used a digitech synth wah pedal. It worked pretty well on synth waveforms, but it only made a few different sounds in general. I got tired of it so I gave it to a guitarist friend of mine and he liked it a lot with his guitars and basses.
One nice thing about the digitech one, is it had one unusual digital filter in addition to the normal analog sounding filters. I used that filter in this song: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=4716205 (Parka by Deathless Dodecagon). The original untreated waveform was a cheesy organ sound on one of those old crappy 99 dollar Casio kiddie synths.

If I remember correctly from the manual (and from use), this pedal has envelope filters and a few actual triggered synth waveforms, but nothing too sophisticated for the triggered synth waveforms.
However, that Behringer pedal might be capable of more sounds since you can specify different waveforms with it. But I'm not sure; I haven't used one.

I had one of these. I thought it was pretty good but I've never used the others so I can't compare.immigrantboy wrote: Any of you ever use one of these (I believe Boss and Digitech make one as well)?

I made a page about bass synths packed in compact pedal size, with links for pictures and sounds (select/copy/paste the links)
