List Good Cheap FX's

I have just gotten my yamaha mixer back, and now that I finally have send/returns, ive been wanting to hook it up to some outboard FXs. At the very moment, i don't want anything expensive, as im going for an old school 90's home studio electronic music sound, and I have been thinking of what kind of cheap fx's are out there that sound good, but have lots of character.

Id like to make this a list and a sticky as I would like to make this list as definite as possible.

Rackmount Ibanez delays are all cheap and knobby.

Ibanez DE-7, CF-7.

Boss BF-2.

EH russian big muff.

80s boss stuff.

I've heard great stuff about the Dano PB&J and the fab echo appearently can be modded for great results quite easily.

Just search ebay every few days for things like "delay" or "phaser" and keep an eye on the stuff that looks like it will o for cheap.

jup, the Danelectro mini-pedals are nice for the money, and even the FAB (10$) pedals are fun to use.
I got a PB&J but it doesn't get much use since I got a Boss DD-6 in a trade, but I think the PB&J is the best pedal I've owned for under 30$
Didn't like the FAB Echo, but I really enjoyed the Chorus.

anyway, the PB&J is a good delay for around 30$

Alesis Microverb: I have the IV, which I got in '96 for about £250 - they're still around, for less than a third of that new over here. Two channels for parallel or serial effects, and a grittier sound than more recent racks. I don't know about the earlier models, as it's a long time since I heard one, but they fit your criteria.

I was thinking more on the lines of cheap hardware rackmounts.

Some items im considering are

Alesis Midiverb III
Digitech DPS128 (just becuase its so old and lo-fi!)
Lexicon stuff (some of it can be had cheap)
any fx that sealed has demonstrated for the most part.

i see soo many cheap fx's out there, I want to stock up.

there aren't any other VST to RTAS converters out there other than FXpansion's, are there?
please don't attack me for trying to find a cheaper option!

I think a list of good cheap effects could pretty much go on forever. If you're going to make a list it should be of exceptional stuff that's noticeably better than anything else in the price range, otherwise we'll just end up with a list of every single cheap effect.

I also think this thread is pretty pointless because effects are like flavours. One thing that I think sounds great might sound like complete rubbish to someone else.

There is a sticky at the top of this page under Effects Review. I was reading it the other day when I was searching for some ideas on effects I'd like to get. I think it's a great sticky which has potential for helping a lot of us when we are considering purchasing something. We just need more people to contribute. I probably will once I've used the Lexicon MX200 a bit more.

I'm setting up a Tascam 688 in my studio and in the process of choosing my outboard effects. I was lucky and won a Lexicon MX200 on ebay for $120 bucks and for the money I must say I love it especially the delays and reverb.
I also pulled my Alesis Midiverb ll out of storage and will be using that, it has some wonderful old world verbs in it and some of the delays are pretty cool, other than that nothing exceptional. I think I've seen them on ebay going for about $35-40 dollars.

several cheap boxes that I like and own:
Yamaha REV500, the reverb got that Yamaha Character, specially on drums and percussions
Lexicon MPX-100, nice cheap lexi reverb
Alesis Microverb IV, I like the delay of this unit
Zoom RFX-2000, knobby, digital interface and good dj type fxs
Korg AX-1000G, nice delay and distotion box

Sony DPS-V55 (very cheap) or DPS-V77 (cheap - poor man's Eventide).
Excellents verbs and delays. Good for weird stuff.
