Technical question about MoogerFoogers

Post by soundxplorer » Sun May 18, 2008 4:47 pm

So, I've realized I can feed line-level audio signals into the CV inputs on my MF-101 and get some great results, especially when said signals are in the lower audio range, or even sub audio (LFO) range.
My question is, do I need to be careful about signal levels when doing this? Is it possible to damage the device this way?

Also, on a side note, has anyone been able to register a new account on the MoogMusic.com forum lately? I've tried for several weeks, but I never get a "confirmation" email from the mod. I've tried contacting the mod by email too. No response.

I also sent my MoogerFooger question to the tech support email address at MoogMusic.com, but no response from them either. Maybe their web people are all college students on break for the summer?

Line level signals are lower power then CV. I do this all the time and never have a problem. If you turn it up to high you just end up with a distorted input signal.

However if the input signal is high enough, like from a power amp, it will fry your devices.

All true, there's nothing to worry about feeding audio to a CV input, the other way around could be nasty though.

I remember the Moog forum took ages from me to get approved for as well, I think in the end I had to email someone on the forum about it.
