Computer vs. MV-8000 vs. MPC5000 - Seq & Audio Tracker

OK, after a 10 year break from music writing/playing, I am ready to get back into recording. In the past I used a Tascam 8 track cassette track machine and either hardware sequencers (MMT-8 & MC-50mkII) or Cakewalk Pro 3.0 for DOS. I have never used a computer based audio tracker, and would kind of like to keep it that way. I also have not used a modern computer based MIDI sequencer. I know all the major software packages have audio & MIDI integrated, but I still prefer hardware.

I was excited to hear about the release of the MPC5000, but after messing with it at Guitar Center, listening to the salespeople and reading online forums, it looks like the Roland MV-8000 (or 8800) would be better suited for my needs. I'm not real interested in sampling, just sequencing and audio tracking.

Are there any of you that use both the MV and a computer? If so, please tell me your thoughts. If I do go with the MV, I would definately want the VGA expenasion.

MV-8000 vs. MV-8800 : besides the color screen and the included VGA expansion, are there any other advantages of the 8800 over the 8000?

Thanks,
Z
