I heard one used underneath a kick drum from a live recorded kit... sounded HUGE!

I'm sure something similar could be achieved with samples though. If it is a good deal, check it out I say.

I have the 120X and love it. It finds (roughly) the pitch of whatever's feeding it and then synthesizes information in the 20-70Hz range. So if you need some more heft in the low low end, it'll work. This one has unbalanced -10 RCA ins and outs. I have a Henry Matchbox HD line level matcher to interface my gear with it. It's basically a tone boost for frequencies in the sub-woofer range, and if those frequencies don't exist in your recording, it'll make it up. I think it was designed mostly for the live sound set. It seems to do a pretty good job on already-mixed material (full mixes) as well as individual tracks.
