Seems like a pretty cool idea; makes me wish I knew something about programming. Looks like they only recently started shipping. Anybody tried one, or have plans to pick one up?

I saw this guy on musicthing a little while back - it seems like a great idea, but, like Reaktor and Max, I suspect for me it would be a bit too much process, a little too little performing.

Yeah, I've put together a few (analog) pedals, and I've enjoyed figuring out how to solder and learning a bit about circuits. Not sure I could get as excited about programming a pedal on the computer (seems less like a fun hands-on hobby, and a bit more like work), interesting concept though. Probably best suited to people who are already comfortable with, and quick at, code writing.

the idea of program your guitar pedal, to make effects is great. unfortunatly i think they didn't integrated well. only a few people will be able to program it.

i think it would have been great if they had done it in modules, like the micro modular, graphical interface, the 13-16 yo kid would have been in their marketing target as well. they would have had a pc to easely build their pedal, a dream come thrue!

It's actually more aimed at programmers to develop their own effects for sale than the kiddies to mess around with at home. Like offering a SDK as an OS vendor.

Doesn't mean you can't get it and fiddle around though...

The Micro Mod actually makes a decent effects box itself, and the prices they're going for lately you can't beat. But, I agree, it would be cool to see the same concept applied specifically to a DSP-based stompbox. Plus the ability for the programming-savvy to create new modules and distribute them for download, online, for which the Micro Mod does not allow.

I just want a pedal that I can load VSTs into. Actually, I think they make one. I just want Glitch and Camel Crusher in a box.

Yeah, SM Pro have a pedal in their "V-Machine" VST-host series. Dunno when they're hitting the shelves though.

One day they might make one for you, if you ask nicely.

errr.... I turn the mix way down when I use it. Plus I mostly just use the stretcher.
