A highly unscientific example of signal path improvement

Post by memedesigner » Fri Nov 14, 2008 3:21 pm

Thought about posting these two examples:
http://memedesigner.net/audio/EMI62.wav
http://memedesigner.net/audio/Duet.wav

Both files have 3 Minimoog examples: some modulation mayhem, a bass drone and an arpeggiated sequence.

First file is my old signal path: Minimoog -> Soundcraft M8 -> EMI 6/2m -> laptop
Second file is my new&improved signal path: Mini -> Apogee Duet -> laptop

Tried to match the levels in the two examples as close as I could but that was made difficult by the Duet signal path having 20dB less noise. :D

Also, in the EMI example, the last part of it shows that USB thing: what happens when I didn't remember to plug in the power cable to the laptop but the laptop was powered with internal battery only...

All I know is that I'm happy I bought a duet! :D
