monophonic guitar

Post by ned-ryarson » Thu Apr 09, 2009 12:33 pm

wonder if it would work. of course i'd have to process it as i do mono synths, nice amount of delay and verb.

could be interesting, yes? no?

Huh?

Isn't a lot of guitar playing already done monophonically? Or are you talking about fitting one with six of the same string and playing barre chords?

I made a power chord guitar, mostly the standard strings (just had to swap out one to make it work) tuned up or down a little so that they're all either D# or A#. Stick a capo on it to quickly change your base chord, and go nuts. It's pretty fun.

yes leads and such they are played monophonically in a way.

i mean a monophonic guitar, where you cant play/strum chords, but you can do monophonic arpeggios. like a mono synth.

Or you could just buy a U2 album...

Guitar with an ebow and slide is effectively monophonic.

Process with comp, analog vibrato, analog filter, trem, eventide pitch-shifter, and space/chorus-echo, and it's timbral nirvana!

cheers,
Ian

I've also gotten some really cool sounds playing my little lap steel with an Ebow. Through a wah pedal and some delay, fuzz, chorus, whatever; it's instant outer space noise.

Wasn't criticizing - OP wanted monophonic/arpeggiated madness - take your choice between Esteban or the Edge

Yea, the only chorus I would tend to use with that kind of ebow stuff would be a Boss DC-2 Dimension C - the anti-chorus chorus. When I mentioned the space/chorus-echo, I just meant a Roland tape delay for the delay taps - awesome with the slide for sweeping trails...

cheers,
Ian

I'm pretty sure the Moog guitar has a facility to allow this, or something pretty close to it
