So, I can get one of these relatively cheaply and wanted to get some feedback from you guys. I did a search earlier and not much has been said about it other than a couple of positive observations.
The reason I'm considering it is because of the simple interface. You tweak and then play vs. scrolling through menus. It was also used by The Ocean Blue on their earlier albums which I still like. Any thoughts about it from you guys?

Re: Roland DEP-5
I have one that doesn't work very well but as a great sound, so good that I'm searching for another one.
Go and get it.

Ive got one too, it sounds very good for a digital unit. The chorus seems to have a very wide range and the reverbs just sound great. Get IT!
Re: Roland DEP-5
Early digital sound processors aren't very impresive. The sound is very flat, unnatural. But might be usefull if you're into lo-fi.

I don't think it sounds bad at all, im not sure what sampling rate it uses and it is definitely early so I agree its probably not hi-fi but it really doesn't sound bad for how cheap you can get one. I think I paid $50 for mine and if it broke id definitely get another one.

Re: Roland DEP-5
I've only been able to spend a little bit of time with it and I actually liked the reverbs a little more than my newer effects units. Nice long tails on the reverbs that lend themselves to pads, choirs, and acoustic pianos and some of the crazier effects are fun with drum samples.
The only thing I've noticed is that it only came with 30 effects patches while the other 69 slots are blank. I've done the factory reset procedure several times, but it doesn't restore the other 69 patches. I can deal with that as I need to sharpen my effects programming skills anyway. Thank you guys for your input.
