Stereo MemoryMan w Hazarai or TimeFactor?

Post by b3groover » Tue Apr 13, 2010 9:09 am

The title says it all. I want to get one of these soon; which one would you get and why? The Electro-Harmonix Stereo MemoryMan with Hazarai or the Eventide TimeFactor?

Thanks!

If you want amazing sound quality get the Timefactor. That thing sounds better than any other delay I've ever used, and I've used many. The SMMwH is a better looper, 30 sec vs 13, and the TF looper doesn't sound all that great at halfspeed IMO. So if you mainly want a looper get the MM, but for delay the Timefactor rules the school.

This should be in Sound Production by the way, I'll move it. :thumbleft:

I have both. Like Stab said, the TF just sounds outstanding on everything. I bought it fully expecting to let my Hazarai go, but I just can't. The EH is just too much fun and sounds great on guitar. It can get a bit wackier too.

That doesn't really help does it?

I guess if you want a flexible, gorgeous delay, studio quality and well laid out, the TF is the way to go.

If you just want flexible, fun and crazy delay and don't need all fancy stuff, the EHX is the way to go.

The TimeFactor has some cool features such as wow & flutter/saturation (w. tape delay), bit reducer, chorus, modulated filters, reverse delays... overall, it's very flexible and it sounds great too!

Is there no way you can try them out? They are pretty easy to find, even here in BFE.

true, just hit the nearest guitar center.
but take a battery operated synth w/ you if that's what you're wanting to use these w/ & if you can. almost all of their pedals & keyboards are strapped in place, they just give people guitars to try pedals.

Got my butt down to Sweetwater Sound today (never been there, but have been ordering from them off and on since '95) to try out the EH and the Eventide on a Moog Voyager. The salesperson was kind enough to get the pedals from the warehouse and hook everything up for me. Played with both for a long time. Everything that's been said in this thread is true. The Eventide is clean and precise. The EH is wild and grungy. I chose the EH. It just fit with the Voyager so well. I'd love to have both; they each have their strengths and weaknesses, but I can only afford one right now. I think I made the right choice.

Thanks!

This thread is inspiring me to bring out my MMwH again. The Boss RE-20 is my go to delay but I think I do need to bring some weirdness back into my sound. Thanks

I'm man enough to admit that I'm in sweet, sweet love with my Timefactor.
