Is anyone using several of these at one time? Are you running into any issues? I would like to buy a new 828mkIII and grab two of the originals, and hopefully daisy chain them so I can still use a 24 track analog mixer to mix live and dump it down to two tracks of analog.

I used to use 2x 896s and a Traveler with a Creamware A16 and a Presonus ADAT converter at work for 48 or so channels of IO, it all worked fine once we got the clocking situation sorted out. Just made an aggregate device in core audio manager with no issues.

BUT, you don't need to do anything that tricky to get 24 channels, the 828mk3 has two sets of ADAT IO so you can just get a mk3 and an A16 and have 24 IO without having to worry about drivers.
