i have heard a lot of great things about sony acid pr and ableton live.

i am learning to work with loops and want some kind of sequencing ability.

Acid runs on Windows only if that matters.

I used Acid briefly but decided that Ableton Live could do the same things with a better user interface. I also wanted to work on a Mac, that sealed the deal for me.

I would definitely use Live....I have Live and Logic, and I find that Live can be just a ton of fun to work with....it is also pretty use imho.
