connecting two small mixers

Post by philip » Sat Aug 11, 2012 11:39 pm

Hi guys, I have a 1202 Mackie and now purchase a Behringer 1832fx. So the question is - how to connect them correctly with each other so I could use them as one? I'm not gonna mix with them, only using as a putchbays for my synths.

Thanks

I'd use the Mackie as your MAIN mixer and the Behringer as a SUB-MIXER. Take the main outs from the Berhinger and run them into one of the Mackie's AUX return inputs or the last stereo input (11&12).

Why?

XLR or Jack main outs? And It is also interesting why ''UX return inputs or the last stereo input (11&12)''? I know there are different signal levels or something?

Because Behringer mixers are noisy from my experiences from them and you want to be able to control that noise as much as possible.
For example, plug your least used instruments into the sub-mixer and "ride the fader" (or knob in the case of the Mackie) whenever sound is coming from these lesser used instruments.

Main jacks are fine.

If you're needing to "ride the fader" of the sub-mixer input, it might be best for it to run into the Mackie's 11&12 inputs so it will be easier to mix with that knobin line with the other inputs rather than the AUX return knob which is not as accessible.
