Kaoss Pad 2 or mini-KP?

Post by kylejun06 » Mon Mar 08, 2010 1:54 pm

I'm looking to get a Kaoss Pad for my setup here. But, the Kaoss Pad 3 is way out of my budget. I was recently playing with a KP2 the other day and really liked it. However, I was also looking at the mini-KP. What's the difference between the two? Which is better?
Equipment: FL Studio 7, Reason, microKORG, Alesis Multimix 8 USB, Electribe EMX-1 (looking to sell/trade), Edirol PCR-M80, LSDJ, and my precious MXL 990s :]

mini-kp can't sample
mini-kp doesn't have a backlit display
mini-kp only stores 2 favorites

But, I think the programs on the mini-kp are pretty good. Not quite as good as the kp3 I have, but h**l it's about a third of the price.
I got one new for like 115 bucks, very happy with it.

KP-2: A great standalone effects tabletop unit. Versatile, almost an instrument in its own right. Amazing for "shits and grins" sound mangling.

Mini-DP: A pocket multi-effects unit with really good sounds and a low price. Perfect for sticking in your pocket when you head out, "just in case" or for quick sketchpad recordings. Amazing for "shits and grins" sound mangling.

Is midi important to you? KP2 has midi sync and can be used as a midi controller, mini KP can't.
