Alpha Juno 1/2 vs Dw6000

Hi all,
Im looking to buy one of the above, for recreating 80's analog pads/lead and general cheesy bass sounds. Anyone any thoughts pro's or cons? are both these synths montimbral?

All the listed synths are monotimbral.

The Juno is going to do pretty good analog pads/leads/basses. Based upon your description, the Juno, more than the DW, is what you want.

The DW was an attempt to do something other than analog pads/leads/basses. Although the DW6000 has an analog filter, the oscillators are digital "wavetable" oscillators. Although there are saw and pulse waves in the DW, most of the waves intentionally sound bright, digital or metallic and certainly not analog.

If you are looking a (cheap) Korg to do analog pads/leads/basses, look at the Poly800, which I like better than the Juno although it is more limited in some ways.

Alpha junos are brilliant and under-rated. I prefer my Juno 2 (keeper) to my sold DW-8000 so am more than sure the same would apply to the DW-6000. I like the 8000 in many ways, but the Juno 1/2 just sound so much more vibrant (and analog). The only thing is the DW has a more aggressive filter, good for modulated aggression but is let down a little by it's wave generation (which gives it an air of plastic - similar to VA imo). Juno 2 has a smoother filter with no squealy stuff but considering it has only 1 OSC (mulit osc) to my ears it just sounds better, in a mix and on it's own. A hidden gem of a synth that sounds better than it looks (not that it looks too bad - but no sliders etc)

Out of all the polyphonic synthesizers I have owned in my time, the DW-8000 is my absolute favorite. I don't mean to confuse, but I would disagree with the above statement that the DW sounds digital and plastic. It is a digital synth, so of course it CAN sound digital, but it also does great analog pads, brasses, and strings. I owned a Poly800 for a while, and it, to me, sounds vastly inferior to the DW. I have not owned a Juno 1 or 2, but I have spent a good deal of time with them, and while they sound better than the Poly800, the DW still takes the cake to my ears. The onboard digital delay is something else... Magic.
