Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
Do you need a delay and/or reverb ? If so, then go for the DEP-5. If not, then go for the CE-20.
Personally, I would get a Boss VF-1 rather than either of these. They can be had for less money than the DEP-5, and only a little bit more than the CE-20 and are packed with the following 24-bit effects :
Chorus, Compression/Limiting, De-Essing, Delay, Distortion, Feedback, Graphic Equalisation, Harmonic Enhancement, High-Pass Filtering, Low-Pass Filtering, Noise Gating/Expansion, Overdrive, Parametric Equalisation, Pitch Shifting/Harmonizing, Reverb, Shelving/Gain Control, Simulation, Vocal Effects/Pitch Correction

i like the grainy metaliquy sound of the DEP 5 lol... it sounds distinct.. I went with the DEP5
I was curious how these youtube guys get their mono output synths to go stereo into the DEP5... do you know

Wouldn't they just use the DEP-5's mono input, but output from the DEP-5 in stereo? Or use a "Y" cable...
Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
ahh okay... lmao, I thought the dep 5 did ping pong Left to right FX....
im finding out it doesnt
Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
I also want a CE-2, I went to this guitar spot near me. They had it for a good price, but when the guitar was plugged in, it was distorting... is that normal of a Ce-2?

Thanks! really interesting how this is set up, i thought it was more limited lol... I like the digital sound alot, mixed with the small stone.. Now all I need is rotary pedal, feel free to recommend some. I got some in mind, thinking of the Boss Ce-2, or the ce-20 and a rotary

Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
I recently bought a Strymon Mobius, which does chorus, flange, rotary, tremelo, vibe, formant filter and several more. Here are a couple of demo videos I made processing a Roland Jupiter 6 and RD-300s Digital Piano through the Mobius:

Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
1:16 in the piano video is the Vintage Tremelo mode. :21 in the piano video is the Rotary effect, but with the overdrive added (also part of the Rotary mode), so you can get those sreaming B3 sounds like Deep Purple.
:45 in the Jupiter 6 video demonstrates the Rotary effect.

Man having a real hard time here. Ive bought 2 Roland DEP 5s and all of the jackpots cuts off, and sound real scratchy rendering them useless. Was this a problem with DEP 5s? (sigh)

Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
I recently got a DEP-5 and the inputs/outputs are scratchy and cut in and out for the first 5-10 minutes it's on and then it seems to go away. A big sigh from me too. It sounds great when it works as it should.
Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
I think this is a common problem with all the unit... I really don't feel comfortable opening it up
Re: Roland Dep 5 vs Boss ce-20
What is as flexible like a Boss Ce-20, but analog! I love the ce-20, im using it right now, wish it was more analog sounding though
