Hello!!!
I've got a simple question to DSI Evolver Keyboard users - is it possible to use it as polyphonic midi-keyboard for my VST synths and does it have velocity and aftertouch?
As far as i see it's quite small and portable for international travelling (to my eyes better than desktop version + standalone midi keyboard... ) What do you think?!
Thanks in advance!!!

3 octave keyboard, it's not as small as you think
Is about the same size as a Pro One, not that portable for travelling.
From the DSI website "The Evolver Keyboard has a 3 octave keyboard, with velocity and aftertouch (pressure). There are 58 endless-turn knobs, and 35 switches. It measures 26" wide, 12" deep, and 3" high, and weighs 13 pounds." A 2 octave controller keyboard controller would be smaller (
) and probably lighter.

Re: DSI Evolver Keyboard Question
It does all the above, but you'd have to be mad to use it as a "portable" controller. An Evo desktop with a 2-oct controller would be smaller and lighter, as the man says. The MEK is not something to sling in a rucksack and go catch a train with.

that's what I did. I'm using the X-stn headphone amps since the Evo didn't have one. Also got extra processing by plugging the Evo into the x. but all those cables and extra power adaptors may not be as instant as the Evo keyboard, specially on a moving situation and certainly not as cool looking as well.nathanscribe wrote:An Evo desktop with a 2-oct controller would be smaller and lighter

Re: DSI Evolver Keyboard Question
I've owned an X-Station, Evolver desktop and currently own an Evolver keyboard, and if I was choosing between them for something to travel with I'd pick the Evolver Keyboard, provided it had a case that fitted it well.
Midi controllers and modules are a pain for portable setups IMO. It might be smaller but you have to carry around a larger number of items which can get lost, and you lose the immediacy of the single object interface. YMMV.
The Evolver and X-Station have fairly similar feeling keybeds, they're both quite handy as a controller.
