Future Retro Mobius
edit: heyo! downloaded & read the manual (which, yes, guilty, should've done first...) and it DOES say the mobius has Hz/V .25 - +9.5 volts range outs, but if anyone has used one w/ an MS-10 or 20, please let me know how that's gone!

It has HZ/V output. Have you checked out the manual?

Re: Future Retro Mobius

Re: Future Retro Mobius
i use mine with my ms20 all the time, works great. though i think the oscillators may need to be tuned up a bit.

Re: Future Retro Mobius
thanks for the replies reassuring me the mobius would cooperate w/ my MS-20! have one running it as i type
mobius' manual also has this little chart...
MAKE - - - - CV TYPE - - - GATE TYPE
ARP - - - - - V/OCT - - - - POSITIVE
KORG - - - - HZ/V - - - - - NEGATIVE
MOOG - - - - V/OCT - - - - NEGATIVE
ROLAND - - - V/OCT - - - - POSITIVE
SEQUENTIAL - V/OCT - - - - POSITIVE
YAMAHA - - - HZ/V - - - - - NEGATIVE
handy!

Re: Future Retro Mobius
actually... pretty weird.
despite the MS-20 being hz/v and negative, it does get signals even from the mobius' v/oct and positive outs (though of course reaction is a bit different). so does my CS-5. the cv/gate ins & outs on my revo & 777 communicate fine w/ each other, but not w/ either of those keyboards.

Re: Future Retro Mobius
yeah that's obvious - it gets the gate signal inverted, so if the mobius sends a gate the ms 20 / cs 5 don't gate their egs, but when the mobius doesnt send a gate they get a trigger... and the cv doesnt track accurate (because of exponential v/oct scaling...). same should happen with the revo and 777...space6oy wrote:actually... pretty weird.

Re: Future Retro Mobius
so any idea why it's NOT happening w/ the revo & 777? know the revo's outs work fine controlling the 777.pflosi wrote:yeah that's obvious - it gets the gate signal inverted, so if the mobius sends a gate the ms 20 / cs 5 don't gate their egs, but when the mobius doesnt send a gate they get a trigger... and the cv doesnt track accurate (because of exponential v/oct scaling...). same should happen with the revo and 777...space6oy wrote:actually... pretty weird.

Re: Future Retro Mobius
maybe gate voltages r too low, or maybe the FR stuff never hits ground (which is the s-trigger).
it would be very strange if the 777 and Revo wouldnt work together, it's the same company. basically v/oct and v-trigger units should work always together.

they DO work together, neither works w/ the MS-20, despite their both having been made by FR just like the mobius, and despite how ANY of the mobius' outs DO work with the MS-20.

obviously the revo and 777 work together.
and obivously they work with the mobius.
but, maybe the 777 and revo dont work with the ms20, although the ms20 works with mobius: afaik the revo and 777 have only v-trigger. maybe this v-trigger doesnt hit ground, so it cant gate the ms 20. for the mobius, it MUST hit ground (for s-trigger), because otherwise it would be incompatible with korg / moog synths. dont know why thats also for the mobius v-trigger out and not for revo and 777.
v-trigger and s-trigger synts dont do a good job anyway without convertion.
but, maybe u dont know this: the ms20 can convert v-trigger (and also audio signals) into s-trigger through the esp. u can patch the revo / 777 gate out to the ESP signal in and the esp trigger out to the kbd trigger in of ms 20. but as u have a mobius.... but its good to know ms 20 can convert v-trigger to s-trigger, i really use this a lot (with acidlab gate out). btw, it can also receive v/oct, but it need lot of scaling and tuning...
