Just got a PM warning from the moderator for posting in the wrong section again!, oh dear -here we go again hopefully in the right section...
I need a module that can do good piano/orchestral/'real' instrument sounds - just a preset box that sounds good; don't want a powerful sampler or anything with serious editing capabilities - just convincing sounds, maybe some basic fx (chorus/reverb). I've been looking at Kurzweil Micro-ensemble and Roland XV2020/5050. Did look at Emu virtuoso but found it has no paino sounds.
Want to spend up to £200 on a used box - any advice?
cheers
Dan
Which sound module for 'real' instrument sounds?

Great idea that completely invalidates the purpose of a messageboard.rhino wrote:pm'd you
I'd get the 5050 - expandable, editable from the front panel instead of just by USB, and dump the SRX Orchestral in there and you're good to go.

sorry, the post had not been moved to BG, and I had no way of knowing if the member would re-post to BG himself. so I used PM , and hoped he would receive it, even if he did not bother to post again.
the PM was:
my suggestion is the Alesis QSR rack. they sell for about 150-175 $US. difficult to program with out an editor, but here's the positive side:
- pretty good sound quality: pianos too.
- can play up to 16 splits on each midi channel
- has two card slots for more sounds
- rather nice FXs ( same engine as the Quadraverb)
- can store 8 full banks of setups on a card.

+1, fills everything mentioned in the original post. just make sure that the 64 voices would be suitable for the task. Since some of the more realistic/alive/thick voice might use 4 tones which eats 4 voices.Yoozer wrote:5050
